The Spirit of '76 Challenge is Texas' first homebrew competition to be devoted to lagers and ales of American origin. Sponsored by the Horsemen of the Hopocalypse in conjunction with The Colony's Salute to Heroes Veteran's Day festivities, the competition seeks to acknowledge this country's veterans by celebrating beer styles that are uniquely American. Our proud country has developed a strong and diverse beer culture, and it deserves to be celebrated and recognized.

This year marks the second So76 Challenge, a contest we plan to continue each Veteran's day. Brewers across the nation are invited to send entries in one or more of the beers listed in the 'Accepted Styles' section of this site. The Spirit of '76 is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned event, and all entries will be judged according to BJCP guidelines. All the rules and details can be found in the 'Competition Rules' section.
